Okay, so maybe it’s not that big of a deal these days to hear about a new movie being set here in the Hudson Valley. But that’s a big deal if you’re a promising actor or actor looking for a job. In the past, Hudson Valley actors had to board a train or drive to New York City to audition for roles. Today there are more opportunities than ever for Hudson Valley actors.

Here’s an opportunity for Hudson Valley residents of all ages. On September 4, auditions will be held at Beacon for a short film titled “Javelina”, which will be filmed October 8-10. They are looking to play four roles for the film.

The person playing Ellie (the lead role) must be a girl between the ages of 10 and 12. The character is calm, thoughtful, imaginative and enjoys being outdoors in nature. Ellie’s little brother, Noah, is an 8-10 year old boy. This character is a strong and funny 5th grade science ace. The person playing Ellie and Noah’s mother should be between 30 and 40 years old. This character is a fun and bubbly outdoor preschool teacher. The man who plays the father is expected to be in his 30s or 40s. He’s a soft, goofy blue collar who loves his kids and his adventures.

Do any of these parts sound like something you would be interested in playing? If you think you have what it takes to fill one of these roles, send your CV and photos to [email protected]

Show houses

The invisible collection appears in the Hamptons

Contrary to its name, the vision behind The Invisible Collection has always made one thing stand out: Pairing high caliber design talent with equally exceptional craftsmen is the recipe for success. Although showrooms in London and Paris quickly opened after the company was founded in 2016, American fans remained ooh and uh on designs seen through computer screens – until now. From August 7 to September 6, The Invisible Collection is hosting its first brick and mortar pop-up in the United States at Phillips Southampton. Stop to see pieces created in collaboration with AD100 talents such as Kelly Behun, Pierre Yovanovitch, Charles Zana, and more.

New York Design House Studio SFW ventures upstate as gallery heads east

Studio SFW has announced the opening of its first showroom in Rhinebeck, New York. Amid a period when many sought respite in the upstate, the adjacent Hudson neighborhood seemed like the perfect fit for the New York studio. SFW offers interior design and architectural services, but the star of the show at their new outpost is the charming collection of curated wonders. From antiques and collectibles to works of art and curios, the house is brimming with a vibrant selection of vintage treasures. The larger-scale pieces on display also feature thoughtful updates. An example: a selection of made-to-measure club chairs covered with Pierre Frey fabric.

Also outside the Big Apple, the House of Art and Design Gallery is set to debut in Sag Harbor, New York on August 7. Housed in the studio of interior design maestro Mark Cunningham, the magazine’s show house features an impressive roster of vendors, including Carpenters Workshop Gallery, Galerie Perrotin, Dedar, Ralph Pucci, and others.

Big change at Route 9 Foam & Wash takes customers by surprise

Apparently overnight, the Foam & Wash on Route 9 in Poughkeepsie was completely transformed.

Before going on vacation, I stopped by Foam & Wash to vacuum the car and fill my tank for the trip to the beach. When I got back my first stop was to go back to Foam & Wash to get rid of the salt from my car which had been parked by the ocean for two weeks. Arriving at the station, I was surprised by a big change that happened during my absence.

I don’t know if anyone else noticed it or not, but the Mobil Foam & Wash is no longer a Mobil. The blue and white pumps and the canopy have all been changed to yellow and red in honor of the location’s transformation into a Shell station. There has been a flurry of construction at Foam & Wash over the past few months, but it turns out that the renovations are actually unrelated to the changes that have taken place at the pump.

Foam & Wash owner Todd Baright says the change was made for several reasons. As it turns out, Shell has a much more robust rewards program that promises customers “never to pay full price for fuel again.” In addition, Foam & Wash will now be able to allow customers to participate in Stop & Shop fuel rewards, which are now honored at the pump. The owner of Foam & Wash said the changes would not affect the convenience store which includes “the same fantastic team of associates, big smiles and a heartfelt thank you”.

As for the ongoing construction work on the property, Baright revealed that new vacuum cleaners are being installed along with two auto cashiers that will help speed up customer service at the car wash. Changes to the old rear oil drain bay will result in a complete makeover that will turn the space into offices for Foam & Wash.

Baright says the changes are being made to help his company’s mission “to create happy customers” and encourages customers to sign up for Shell Fuel Rewards. The program would take 5 cents off every gallon and offer discounts at local restaurants and businesses.

A new Foam & Wash location is being built a few miles north on the site of the old Coyote Grill restaurant. This location will not offer gas but will include other amenities such as a pet wash.

Paul Rudd and Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s candy store isn’t far from Buff

When we heard that Paul Rudd and Jeffrey Dean Morgan owned a candy store together, we cocked our heads to the side like you probably just did. Then we took a trip to check it out.

You might know Paul Rudd as Ant-man from the Marvel series. Although he’s been in a ton of other things like Anchorman, Knocked Up, and most recently a movie on Netflix called “The Fundamentals of Caring” (which is a great movie if you’re looking for one!).

Jeffrey Dean Morgan will be well known to fans of the comic book turned TV series “The Walking Dead”. He plays the role of one of their meanest villains. His character name is Negan and on the show he’s brutal.

But in real life, he and his wife (Hilarie Burton Morgan, One Tree Hill) live on a working farm in Rhinebeck, NY. When they got there they often stopped at a store called “Samuel’s Sweet Shop”. It was a candy store that belonged to a person named Ira Gutner. He died just a few months after they moved there. Instead of waiting to see if someone else would buy it, they pooled some money with a few friends, including Paul Rudd. Then they called the store and bought it themselves.

It’s a great store! They have a ton of stuff in this little store. It’s everything from retro candies to chocolates and drinks.

It’s also a pretty cool little town. There are a few little shops there (and another little comic book shop across the street that my son loved) and when we got there there were even street performers playing casual guitar. It was super relaxing while we sat outside and ate our sweets.

I’m not going to pretend it’s Willie Wonka’s chocolate factory. It was a nice little candy store in a small town. But if you take a road trip up the coast this summer and head to the Hudson Valley (or somewhere nearby), it was pretty cool to say I had been to the candy store that owned Ant-man and Negan. . It’s about a 5 hour drive. It made sense to us because we were coming back from Boston anyway.

I can’t help but wonder what it’s like to work for Negan …
