Long-running New York daycare reportedly abuses children in Hudson Valley

Long-standing daycare and preschool in the Hudson Valley are under investigation for child abuse. Police believe more casualties are likely.

New York State Police in Livingston on Thursday announced an investigation into allegations of child abuse at a Columbia County day care center.

New York State Police said they were investigating allegations of child abuse at the Columbia Children’s Center located at 142 Union Turnpike in the town of Greenport.

Columbia Children’s Center is a daycare and preschool for children 6 weeks to 5 years old. It opened in 1982 and has a dedicated and experienced staff, many of them for more than 20 years, according to the daycare’s Facebook.

Columbia Children’s Center is licensed by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services for 66 children. The program includes intellectual, social, emotional and physical development, according to school officials.

Police have not given any details of the child abuse allegations, but believe there may be more victims.
