Orange County Winter Market opens for the season

The winter season is almost here, and that means a lot of celebrations and meals for the holidays. I think one of the things that I miss when winter comes is shopping at the local farmers markets. It’s so nice to know where your food comes from, and the Hudson Valley is well known for its bounty. So how do you get your hands on local products for the winter?

If you feel like me and want to continue shopping local during the winter months, you can visit the Winter Market every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Highland Falls in Orange County. The winter market offers jerk chicken, macaroni and cheese, cooked vegetables, manicotti, ravioli, fresh mozzarella, smoked mozzarella, sopressata, sourdough bread, olives, sundried tomatoes , pickles, maple syrup, bee pollen, nuts, spirits and more.

Not only can you get fresh veg, ready meals, and artisan food items at the Highland Falls Winter Market, but you can also get hand-knitted items, handmade jewelry, personal items, and more. hand-sewn cooking and other locally made products. Which is perfect if you are hoping to go holiday shopping.

The Winter Market is held every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Holy Innocents Church, 401 Main Street, in the village of Highland Falls. If Highland Falls is too far away and you’re in the Dutchess County area, keep in mind that the popular Rhinebeck Farmer’s Market runs from Sunday through December 26. It’s good to know that you can “buy local” year-round in the Hudson Valley.
