Ulster and Northern Dutchess report a total of 139 active cases since the start of the school year – Daily Freeman


KINGSTON, NY – There have been 139 reported cases of COVID-19 in public and private schools in Ulster County and Northern Dutchess County over the past 14 days, according to new figures released by the state.

The state’s online tracker of COVID cases in schools, known as the COVID-19 Report Card, began posting new cases on Monday.

Here are the breakdowns, by school district, for the last 14 days:

Kingston: 39 cases in total, including 33 students;

Mountains: A student in college;

New Paltz: A student in college;

Sausages : 33 in total, 25 of these students;

Oneonta: five in total, four of these students;

Rondout Valley: seven in total, five of these students;

Ellenville: two in total, all students;

Wallkill: 23 in total, all students

Marlboro: In no case.

Pine plains: 3 cases, all students.

Red hook: nine in total, with eight of these students;

Rhinbeck: 10 in total, all students;

Ulster BOCES: five in total, five students;

Kingston Catholic: 1 student.

No cases have been reported at Mount Academy, Woodstock Day, High Meadow, Hudson Valley Sudbury or Children’s Home in Kingston.

Active cases continue to decline

Meanwhile, Ulster County said on Tuesday it has 365 active cases of the disease, up from 401 reported on Monday. Ulster also said it had 280 deaths from COVID, unchanged from the previous day.

Dutchess County on Tuesday reported no change in its COVID death toll which remains at 490. The county reported 659 active cases, 43 fewer cases than reported the day before.

Each county peaked above 2,500 active cases in January. Totals eventually fell into double digits over the summer before rising again.

Dutchess County: 34,029 confirmed cases.

Ulster County: 18,117 confirmed cases.

Vaccination rate

Data as of Monday, according to the New York State online vaccine tracker.

Ulster County: 64.4% of the population fully vaccinated, 71.2% with at least one dose of a two-dose schedule, 81.3% of the population aged 18 and over with at least one dose.

Dutchess County: 59.3% fully vaccinated, 66.5% with at least one dose of a two-dose regimen, 76.7% of the population aged 18 and over with at least one dose.
