It’s time to plan a leisurely lunch or a three-course dinner. The spring edition of Hudson Valley Restaurant returns March 21-April 3 with specially priced feasts typically ranging from $26.95 to $39.95.
The two-week foodie event provides a great excuse to try a new restaurant or plan a day trip over a meal. You can take the New York Waterway ferry on weekdays from Beacon to Newburgh, for example, and walk 10 minutes to Toasted Restaurant, then explore the city’s renowned architecture. Or eat at New York Restaurant in Greene County and visit the Thomas Cole National Historic Site and Subversive Brewing to complete a day trip to Catskill.
Many restaurants have restrictions on when they offer their specialties – some only honor them on special days or omit Saturdays, so confirm any restrictions when you make a reservation, which is recommended.
Now for the fun part: browsing the menus ahead of time. Will you opt for a bisque with morels and wild mushrooms, maple-cured pork chop and dessert of the day at Terrapin? Or panzanella, shrimp and grits, and chocolate budino (pudding) at City Winery?
